Jane Tranter’s prodco staffs up

Fledgling producer Bad Wolf has hired Miles Ketley as its chief operating officer and brought on three execs from BBC Worldwide.

The prodco, which was formed last year by ex-BBC Worldwide US drama chiefs Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner, is adapting hit novel His Dark Materials for television.

As well as Ketley joining, Bad Wolf has hired Amy Hodge, Ryan Rasmussen and Matthew Ariail. All three previously worked with Tranter at BBCWW’s LA operation.

Hodge, a former HBO exec, was director, scripted programming, and Rasmussen and Ariail were in development and production at Worldwide.

Ketley has also worked with Tranter before in his capacity as a media lawyer at Wiggin, where he headed the film and TV group. Prior to that he was vice president at Fox Searchlight Pictures.

He said: “Joining Bad Wolf, is in many ways, a natural evolution of all of the executive producing and entrepreneurial ambitions I have had at Wiggin and [corporate finance firm] Ariel. It’s also a challenge to see if I can execute as a principal what I had previously only advised on.”

Tranter added: “I am delighted that Miles is joining Bad Wolf as COO. His experience is going to be a huge asset to the company as we build the business in Wales.

“His work with the Welsh government and other partnerships in the nation gives us the opportunity to develop important and sustainable local relationships, which we can use as a springboard to producing projects with global reach and ambition.”

Tranter and Gardner left BBC Worldwide to set up Wales-based Bad Wolf last year, with support from the Welsh government.
