Endemol Shine launching Fox’s Turkish drama

Scripted-logo-460_2Endemol Shine International is launching buzzy Turkish drama Intersection at MIPTV, and the three leads will be in Cannes to promote the show and attend a screening.

IntersectionThe series played on the Fox TV channel in Turkey (entitled Kordugum), where it has been hailed as a new kind of action-telenovela.

Set in Istanbul, the 13x1hr series shows a dark underside to the Turkish capital, and follows a love triangle involving a playboy businessman, a car designer and a beautiful woman.

The three main stars – Ibrahim Çelikkol, Belçim Bilgin and Alican Yücesoy – will be in Cannes and will be at the screening in the Palais at 11am on the Tuesday of the market.

Endemol Shine has very high hopes for the show. Although Turkey is a well-established drama exporter, this is something new from the territory, Hakan Eren, CCO at Endemol Shine Turkey, which produced the series, told TBI.

“It’s very, very important for the Turkish market as well as for Endemol Shine Turkey” Eren says. “There have been successful Turkish shows, but we want to break sales records with this. We believe Intersection will be a pillar of the Turkish export market as the production values are so high.”

Endemol Shine International CEO Cathy Payne said: “The phenomena of Turkish drama has taken the world by storm with great casting and direction along with compelling storylines.

“There is always a great buzz when we bring talent to Cannes and we are very excited to launch Intersection to the international audience at MIPTV.”

In Turkey Intersection launched in January, with a peak viewership of over one million, well over the channel average.
