The ten-part series is the first original out of Fox’s international channels and production division.

In the US the series will bow on HBO sister net Cinemax on June 3. The channel yesterday announced a second season order ahead of the season one launch.

Fox will launch the series internationally on 125 of its international channels meaning they will have Outcast and The Walking Dead in many cases.

It will launch it simultaneously around the world, close to the US TX, using a release model it pioneered with The Walking Dead.

Outcast is based upon Kirkman and Paul Azaceta’s Skybound/Image comic.

It follows Kyle Barnes, a young man plagued by demonic possession who, with the help of a troubled preacher, embarks on a journey to find answers to his predicament.

“It’s been an incredible ride watching Outcast come to life from an idea to a comic and now to a television series that is going to be seen across the globe through our partners at Fox,” said Kirkman.

He added: “Having Outcast find the same international home as The Walking Dead, and having it launch day and date with the US, just like The Walking Dead did six years ago, is surreal. I hope international fans enjoy the world of Outcast, and hopefully, are a little bit scared of it too.”
