Vimeo to debut first feature doc film

On-demand service Vimeo has continued its push into original programming by launching its first feature-length documentary film as part of a new slate.

Coming from Salazar Films, Wizard Mode will debut on the platform this spring. It follows Robert Emilio Gagno, an autistic man who has mastered the secret hidden pinball level of ‘wizard mode’.

Vimeo’s Nathan Drillot and Salazar’s Jeff Lee directed the film.

Vimeo’s new slate also includes what it describes as a first concert film. Toro y Moi: Live in Concert, which Vimeo staff member Harry Israelson directed, is a live performance from chillwave artist Chaz Bundick (aka Toro y Moi), who shot in an isolated desert location with no audience.

Also on the slate are season two of Adam Goldman vehicle The Outs, which picks up three years after the first season and debuts on March 30; Lonely and Horny, a comedy from Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld (Jake and Amir) that’s produced by Brevity Wit Productions; and Garfunkel and Oates: Trying to be Special, a comedy special from Divide / Conquer starring Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci.

“Vimeo is accelerating its commitment to deliver innovative programming from truly gifted creators to our audience of over 200 million viewers worldwide,” said Sam Toles, head of global content acquisitions and distribution, Vimeo.

“We aim to surprise and captivate our global audience with content that is anything but ordinary. This diverse slate of comedy and music are the perfect additions to our critically acclaimed original programming efforts.”
