Steven Soderbergh and Scott Frank are working up a serialised period drama for streaming service Netflix.
The pair are reportedly lining up Godless, executive-producing alongside Casey Silver.
Frank is also writing and directing the scripted series, which is billed as a Western set in a 1800s New Mexico mining town. Filming is set for Santa Fe, with casting currently underway.
Soderbergh, originally known as a movie director, has moved into television through series such as Cinemax’s The Knick and Starz’s remake of his movie The Girlfriend Experience.
For Netflix, the order comes after it landed a Jason Bateman project, Ozark; its first anime original, Perfect Bones; and first German-produced original, Dark.
