German children’s channel KiKA has acquired European live action coproduction The Avatars from Spain’s Boomerang TV Group and Onza Distribution.
The show will debut on the ARD- and ZDF-owned network today with back-to-back episodes at 8.10pm. The 52x24mins show will run stripped Monday to Thursday.
The Avatars comes from Lagardere Studios-owned Boomerang, Italy’s Fly Distibuzione TV and Brave Films. Shot in English, it follows a group of 15-year-old who create an ultra-successful virtual band.
The deal comes after others with SABC in South Africa, Teletoon+ (Poland) and Gloob (Brazil) among others.
