SBS in Australia, AMC Networks International (central and eastern Europe), TVO (Canada) and Top TV (New Zealand) have all pre-bought upcoming BBC2 series Meet the Roman Empire (pictured), which is produced by All3Media prodco Lion Television.
The four-part series is presented by Mary Beard and examines the Romans’ legacy. Australia’s Foxtel, meanwhile, has bought Lion’s one-hour special Pompeii: Life Before Death.
Other classical doc deals include Brave New Media’s Building the Ancient City: Athens and Rome heading to AMCNI (Czech Republic, Hungary), Foxtel (Australia, New Zealand), FTV Prima (Czech Republic), HRT (Croatia), MTG (Scandinavia and CEE), RTVE (Spain) and SBS (Australia).
The Other Pompeii – Life and Death in Herculaneum has been picked up by Discovery for China and Italian-speaking Europe. It has also been acquired by AMC (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary), Foxtel (Australia), FTV Prima (Czech Republic), HRT (Croatia), IMC Vision (UK DVD), MTG (Scandinavia and CEE), SBS (Australia) and Latvian Television (Latvia).
