AT&T to carry Viceland

AT&T’s US platforms are to carry the upcoming A+E Networks-backed cable channel Viceland as part of a wider distribution agreement.

Vice_logo2Viceland will be available of both the AT&T U-verse TV service and through DirecTV, which AT&T acquired for US$48.5 billion last year.

Viceland, which Vice Media will operate with the backing of A+E, is replacing the H2 brand next year, targeting millennial audiences.

A&E, Lifetime, History, LMN, FYI and History en Español are all included in the “long-term, multiyear” deal, which includes TV Everywhere, video-on-demand and mobile rights.

“We have worked together with AT&T for many years and we are delighted that this renewal will allow us to do so well into the future,” A+E said in a statement.

“We are thrilled that AT&T’s valued customers will be able to enjoy A+E Networks’ award-winning portfolio of brands – including A&E, Lifetime, History, LMN, FYI and HISTORY en Español – across their multiple platforms, and that Viceland’s new 24-hour channel will be part of that offering.”

A+E has teamed up with Rogers Communcations in Canada to launch Viceland there.
