News brief: BBC buys Lockerbie bombing series

The BBC has acquired UK rights to a new PBS documentary series that sheds new light on the perpetrators of the 1988 Lockerbie plane bombing from PBS International.

The BBC will run My Brother’s Bomber in its Storyville strand, with SBS in Australia, Alhurra in the Middle East, DR in Denmark and Phoenix Satellite in Hong Kong and Mainland China also acquiring the show. The deal closely follow the US debut on pubcaster PBS.

The Frontline series identified two Libyan men as likely being involved with the bombing, which killed 20 people, including filmmaker Ken Dornstein’s brother. Within 48 hours of its final broadcast, Scottish authorities announced they were seeking two new suspects in the case.
