Venezuela’s Cisneros Media Distribution has struck a programme sales deal with Telefe, and will represent the Argentine broadcaster’s content throughout Africa.
CMD is the distribution arm of Venezuelan media giant Cisneros and has a history of selling content into Africa. It started shopping Telefe titles this week at MIPCOM in Cannes.
The first titles it is selling include 183-part telenovela Somos Familia, 120-part Camino al Amor and 131-part Legacy of Passion.
“We believe the collective advantages of presenting this remarkable catalogue with the classical telenovela approach of Cisneros and the distinctive edginess of Telefe’s trademark productions, which complement each other, become a strong proposition for our mutual clientele in Africa,” said Marcello Coltro, executive VP, content distribution, CMD.
Daniel Otaola, head of content distribution for Telefe added: “This kind of alliance will strengthen Telefe´s presence in the region since our content has great potential in this [region], which is known for its consumption of our most representative genre, the telenovela.”
