Espresso rebrands ahead of MIPCOM

UK based factual distribution business Espresso TV, after 23 years in the industry, is re-branding as Espresso Media International and launching a new production company at MIPCOM 2015.

The Brighton-based company, which is run by David Hooper, will also launch a separate programme-making unit, Espresso Productions. It will specialise in the production and coproduction of documentary, music and factual entertainment programmes.

The company’s MIPCOM slate contains eight factual shows including NASA’s 10 Greatest Achievements, When Africa Arose and Sexpionage.

There is also a new jazz series Jazz @ Metropolis and BBC Four special 100 Seconds to Beat The World: The David Rudisha Story, which follows the titular athlete over a ten-year period.

David Hooper, managing director of Espresso Productions said: “Building on our rich heritage in the TV industry, portfolio of award-winning documentaries and proven track record with international broadcasters – the move into production and co-production is a natural progression for the business.

“As well as seeking co-production opportunities, with a focus on cutting edge 4K programming, we have a unique slate of quality programming to introduce at MIPCOM.”

Espresso said that a major coproduction involving one of the biggest names in the global music industry has been signed and will be announced later in the autumn.
