Amazon picks up Sony’s Bryan Cranston series

Amazon has picked up Sneaky Pete for its Prime Instant Video service.

The show comes from Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and David Shore (House), and follows a con man as he adapts to life post-prison.

It was set up at CBS, but the broadcast net ultimately passed on the show. Amazon stepped in and picked it up, putting the pilot on its streaming service. According to Deadline, it has now taken it to series.

Sony Pictures Television is producing and is expected to sell the show internationally. It sells Amazon originals including Transparent as well as Cranston’s hit cable series Breaking Bad and its spin-off, Better Call Saul.

Prime Instant Video has stepped up its original drama offering, with Transparent a critical hit and buzz emerging around its upcoming series, including the big-budget adaptation of Philip K Dick’s The Man in the High Castle.

Ron Perlman drama Hand of God has also just launched.
