Disney opens annual talent incubator initiative

The Walt Disney Company has called for applications on a talent incubator initiative aimed at fostering the next generation of programme creators and writers.

Disney veteran Marc Warren (Even Stevens, That’s So Raven) will return to oversee the second Disney Channel Storytellers programme, for which applications are being accepted until September 1.

The 20-week salaried programme begins in November and is open to professionally-represented writers.

Each writer or writing team in the programme develops one live-action script for pilot consideration, with Warren and other Disney Channel programming and development execs and producers providing mentoring. They also create digital content to complement their idea.

“We’re building upon Storytellers’s success after its inaugural year resulted in one writing team’s pilot being produced for series consideration at Disney Channel and a second team joining the writing staff of our upcoming comedy series BUNK’D,” said Jennilee Cummings, VP, original series, Disney Channels Worldwide.
