BBC, NRK buy citizens festival special

Pubcasters in the UK and Norway have acquired a special of the 2015 Global Citizens Festival, a new event crafted by Live Aid co-creator.

The BBC and NRK are the first buyers of the programme, which the BBC’s commercial arm, BBC Worldwide, is selling internationally.

In the UK, viewers will see artists such as Ed Sheeran and Pearl Jam play on BBC One and BBC Three, while NRK1 will broadcast it in Norway.

Film director Curtis is producing the one-hour show, which NBC in the US originally ordered. YouTube is the official streaming partner. The event was created as part of a campaign to end global poverty.
