HBO orders Katims drama pilot

US premium cable channel HBO has ordered a romantic drama pilot from Parenthood creator Jason Katims.

Us. marks Katims’s first project for cable, having previously focused on scripted network programming. He has written and created the show, with his True Jack Productions and Universal Television attached to produce.

The pilot will look into the unexpected and often heart-wrenching ways love is found by seemingly unconnected people.

Katims is behind NBC’s Parenthood and About a Boy and was also an executive producer on Friday Night Lights.

“Jason is one of the most gifted writers working in television or any other medium, and we are thrilled that he will be bringing his unique storytelling talents to HBO,” said HBO president, programming Michael Lombardo.

Katims and Michelle Lee will executive produce Us.
