Discovery’s K2 buys Yu-Gi-Oh! series

Yu-Gi-Oh!Italian kids channel K2 has acquired Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, the latest series in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime franchise.

The series is distributed by Konami’s sales arm 4K Media. In Italy the brand is repped by local producer and distributor Cattleya (Gomorrah), which struck the agreement with Discovery-owned K2.

Cattleya had previously shopped the Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal series to K2.

The free-TV channel will show all 49 episodes from season one of the animated show.

The anime-inspired series follows a ‘duel-tainer’, Yuya Sakaki, as he battles his way through a world of rivals and monsters.

“Cattleya is known for recognising popular programming trends in the international marketplace and introducing them to our broadcasting friends in Italy,” said Cattleya’s Giovanni Stabilini.

He added: “We already happily cooperated with K2 and 4K Media on Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal, and we are happy to keep on working with them on such a successful brand.”
