Disney closes intn’l deal for kids comedy Zip Zip
Disney has acquired animated comedy Zip Zip for a raft of its international channels.
The slapstick toon, which is aimed at 6-to-10s, will go out on Disney Channel in Italy, the Benelux and Russia in Europe.
Disney France has already prebought the series, which follows a trio of wild animals as they move to the big city disguised as domestic pets using zip-up costumes.
Outside of Europe, Disney Channel in Israel, India, South East Asia, Korea, Japan, Australia and Latin America will also have the 52x13mins show.
Zip Zip hails from Paris-based producer and distributor Go-N, which struck the Disney deal.
It was originally commissioned by France Télévisions for France 3 where it will debut in early April. Early prebuyers included German net Super RTL, which started airing the series last week.
Having been the most-screened show at last October’s MIP Jr., Go-N has also sold the series to free-TV players SVT in Sweden, SIC in Portugal and pay services including DSTV kids in Africa.
