Novick to distribute Genius series in Asia

Kerry NovickGenius Brands International has appointed Kerry Novick’s Small Screen Distribution to represent its titles throughout Asia.

Small Screen is an boutique preschool vendor that works with Western content companies seeking to break the Asian market.

Kids industry veteran Novick (pictured) leads the outfit, which will now handle GBI shows such as Baby Genius, Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaires Club and Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab.

This follows the pact with GBIs’s senior VP, global content sales Andrew Berman, to whom Small Screen will report.

“Asia continues to have a growing appetite for innovative content, particularly for kids and family entertainment, and GBI is in a position to deliver top quality programming with universal appeal that can seamlessly translate across borders,” said Berman, who joined GBI earlier this year.

“Kerry’s experience, expertise, and relationships throughout the entire region will be of a tremendous benefit in introducing our library to media platforms.”

“This is a wonderful time to be representing GBI and their high quality ‘content with a purpose’ driven programming,” added Novick. “There is strong demand right now from broadcasters and parents in the region for programming that entertains our youngest viewers, and at the same time provides enriching value.”

Novick launched Small Screen in 2004. Prior to that she distributed Sesame Workshop programming in Asia and the Americas, and was at Nelvana Enterprises as its Australasian sales rep for a decade.

Earlier this year, GBI raised US$6 million in new funding after launching in 2013 upon the merger of Andy Heyward’s A Squared Entertainment and California-based GBI.
