ITV resurrects The Saint

UK broadcaster ITV is looking at a reboot of classic spy drama series The Saint.

The network wants to develop a new series, subject to rights and script, TBI understands.

TV declined to comment, but the Radio Times reported Ed Whitmore and Chris Lunt (Prey) are writing a pilot script.

The original drama, which followed a sharp-suited Roger Moore playing British spy Simon Templar, ran on ITV predecessor ITC from 1962 to 1969, and ran successfully on NBC in the US from 1967.

A spin-off, Return of the Saint, ran on ITV and CBS, and was a coproduction with Italian pubcaster Rai.
