Mongolia takes The Voice

voice_of_425Mongolia has become the latest territory to order a local version of Singing competition series The Voice.

National Times News Media’s NTN channel, which has a reach of abut three million homes, has commissioned the format, the first time it has greenlit a local version of an international show.

“It was high time we brought world class content to Mongolia,” said Bulgan Bayasgalant, CEO of The National Times News Media. “Music has always been part of our nomadic lifestyle. Young Mongolians today closely follow the global trends in music, adding yet another dimension to our nation’s new identity.”

Talpa Global managing director Maarten Meijs added: “As The National Times News Media group is the strong newcomer emerging in the Mongolian broadcasting market, we’re extremely proud of their tremendous enthusiasm and confidence in The Voice.

“We will supply them with all our assistance to ensure the show is as big a hit in Mongolia as it is elsewhere.”

The Voice is now on air in 180 territories. There are 60 local versions in production.
