US network WGN America has commissioned its first unscripted original programmes.
Docu-drama Outlaw Country comes from Bischoff Herney Entertainment, while docu-series Wrestling with Death comes from ITV Studios-owned Leftfield Pictures.
Outlaw Country promises “an unprecedented look at crime” after producers gained full access to a law enforcement agency and a suspected crime family from Buckner, Missouri.
Wrestling with Death follows a family of morticians that also run a professional wrestling league.
The commissions come after WGN America moved into scripted commissioning through Salem and recent hit Manhattan. It is now working on Titans, a drama from Peter Mattei and Rescue Me co-creator Peter Tolan, and Winstein Company-produced Ten Commandments.
