BBCWW bags Boorman’s Queen and Country

BBC Worldwide North America has acquired all US rights to Queen and Country, the final movie from five-time Academy Award nominee John Boorman.

The rites of passage film is set in the 1950s and follows a man, based on director Boorman, who is called up for British National Service but instead of shipping out to Korea lands a desk job as a typing instructor for a regulation-obsessed Sergeant Major.

“John Boorman is an iconic director and writer who has continued to deliver incredible films to the big screen including the unforgettable Academy Award nominated Deliverance and Hope and Glory,” said Soumya Sriraman, executive VP, film, home entertainment and licensing for BBCWW North America.

The deal was negotiated between BBC Worldwide North America and Le Pacte distributor on behalf of Merlin Films.
