NBC reworks ITV Saturday variety show

US broadcaster NBC is working on its own version of ITV’s British variety show Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Ant and DecHow I Met Your Mother alumni Neil Patrick Harris will present the US Takeaway, which will be a 10-part series from ITV Studios America.

The Takeaway format features live comedy sketches, musical numbers, mini game shows, hidden camera pranks on celebrities and A-list star appearances in front of a studio audience.

In the UK, the format has run since 2002, presented by popular duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, pictured), known in the UK as Ant and Dec, who created the show with ITV Studios, UK broadcaster ITV’s production and distribution arm.

McPartlin, Donnelly and Harris will serve as executive producers alongside ITVS America’s Orly Adelstein and Siobhan Greene.

“As co-creators of the show, we’re hugely excited and very proud that Saturday Night Takeaway is heading to the USA. There is no-one better equipped to host it there than Neil Patrick Harris and we’re looking forward to working with the team to help make Takeaway a favourite with families across America,” McPartlin and Donnelly said in a statement.

NBC is yet to officially title or set an airdate for its remake.

CAA and WMA brokered the deal with distributor ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
