Comarex pushes into Spain with JV launch

Hispanic programming distributor Comarex is launching a Spanish office with Spanish business group Onza Partners.

Comarex España will be a joint venture that attempts to localise Comarex’s catalogue of formats and develop local programming for the Spanish market.

Onza bills itself as a transmedia business group. Its main partners are Jose Maria Irisarri, who founded Vertice 360º, Notro Films and Globomedia, and former 7yAccion (El Horimguero) international director Gonzalo Sagardia.

“With this joint venture we look forward to leveraging on Comarex’s in-depth understanding, professional capabilities, expertise and create new opportunities and great programs for both the Spanish and international market,” said Irisarri.

In related news, Comarex has signed a distribution partnership with Mexican channel Canal Once.

The deal sees Comarex taking international distribution rights to Canal Once drama series such as Crónica de Castas, Paramédicos and Estado de Gracia, and docs including Antropológicas, Historias de Vida and México en la Edad de Hielo.
