Mondo signs Schultz pre-MIPJunior

Millennial-focused multichannel network Mondo Media is heading to MIPCOM with a slate of three new feature films, and having signed veteran kids TV producer Bill Schultz to its roster.

The films are Happy Three Friends, whose videos have amassed more than two billion views, Dick Figures 2, which is the follow-up to Dick Figures: The Movie, and animated sex sci-fi romp Deep Space 69.

Mondo, which claims to be the biggest YouTube channel and MCN for millennial-age viewers, will debut the trio at MIPCOM. Each film is being financed through a mix of equity and coproduction collaborations, plus presales. Partners will be announced shortly.

Mondo believes this is the first time animated movies have been created from YouTube content.

Meanwhile, Home Plate Entertainment CEO Schultz has joined Mondo’s team of executive producers, which also comprises John Evershed, Aaron Simpson and Brendan Burch.

Schultz is best known as producer of shows such as The Simpsons. He launched Home Plate in 2010 after exiting a 12-year partnership with Moonscoop in the US.
