Discovery Kids remaking Oz music show

Discovery Kids Latin America is preparing a Spanish-language version of Australian kids music-themed show Hi-5.

Discovery Latin America/US Hispanic has acquired format rights to the show from creator Hi-5 World, a deal facilitated by Latin American distributor Comarex.

“We are committed to providing quality programming and a learning environment that engages children and Hi-5 is an extremely popular series for Discovery Kids Latin America,” said Carolina Lightcap, head of content for Discovery Lat Am/US Hispanic.

“We want to take the show one step further by producing a Latin American version.”
Furthermore, Discovery Lat Am/US Hispanic has acquired exclusive pay TV and digital rights to seasons one and two of Hi-5 House.

The Hi-5 brand began life in Australia in 1999 as a five-piece music group. Tours, published music and TV series have followed.
