CBS inks volume deal with TV2

MAD-pilotgallery162_1biCBS Studios International has widened the terms of its programming deal with TV2, which will give the Norwegian free-to-air broadcaster new CBS series including Madam Secretary (pictured).

The political drama recently bowed on CBS in the US, winning 13.8 million viewers.

Other new series covered by the volume deal include Scorpion. It will also have new seasons of existing shows including Under the Dome.

The reworked deal between CBS and TV2 gives the Norwegian broadcaster right to show programming on its subscription video-on-demand platform Sumo as well as the core linear channel.

It is the second major programming deal agreed by CBSSI this week, after the distributor announced a volume deal with Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1.

Barry Chamberlain, president of sales, CBSSI, said: “In today’s digital world, audiences consume content in many different ways, and this deal demonstrates CBS’s commitment to provide our partners with world-class programming across all platforms.”

Nina Lorgen Flemmen, director of acquisitions, TV2, said: “TV2 and CBS Studios International have a long history together, and we are excited to continue the long tradition. We are also excited to be able to offer these shows on our OTT platform SUMO.”
