Rai’s new sales division plans Cannes debut

The new commercial division of Italian pubcaster Rai is coming to Cannes with a slate of new shows and unreleased episodes from returners.

Rai Com has replaced Rai Trade, and will debut internationally at MIPCOM.

The division will be in Cannes selling new shows including the 6x100mins mafia drama Palermo Drug Squad, director Gabriele Salvatores’ Italy in a Day, which is the Italian edition of Ridley Scott’s In a Day franchise, and Andrea Camilleri – The Wild Maestro, the latter of which focuses on the intellectual that created the Salvo Montalbano character.

Further to that, Rai Com will be selling new episodes of The Young Montalbano, which is a spin-off of popular crime procedural Montalbano.

“There is always more opportunity for quality content‎ as far as sales companies are able to cope with the challenges of a fast paced developing market,” Rai Com’s CEO Luigi de Siervo told TBI.
