Prisoners of War discovered in Mexico, Hispanic US

HatufimBroadcasters in Mexico, Colombia and Hispanic US have banded together to create a local version of Keshet International’s lauded drama Prisoners of War.

Productions RTI Colombia (Queen of the South) will produce a 70-episode remake of the scripted format for Televisa in Mexico, Univision-owned Unimas in the US and an as-yet unnamed broadcaster in its home country.

The show has been remade in territories such as the US, where it found success as Homeland on Showtime. South Korea’s Star J Entertainment is working up a local version, as is Weit Media in Russia and Medyapim in Turkey. The original Israeli series has sold to more than 20 territories.

Plot details for the new Spanish-langauge version have not been released, but the format follows a pair of soldiers that return home after a long period in captivity hiding a dark secret.
