Rock music and reality TV star Gene Simmons will be in Cannes to launch a new format, Coliseum.
The music competition show was created by Simmons and Chris Philip, the boss of producer and distributor Sierra/Engine, which will launch the show in Cannes.
In each installment of the show, music acts will battle to show they have the vocal and performance skills to create a unique and unforgettable act. Simmons, guest star judges and the crowd will decide their fate.
Simmons will be styled as the ‘Rock Caesar’. “Thumbs up or thumbs down, only the strong survive,” he said. “Coliseum is a no-holds-barred competition show between musical gladiators in the arena fighting to survive, fighting to be the champion, fighting to curry the favor of Rock Caesar,” said Simmons.
The Format People’s Justin Scroggie and Michel Rodrigue codeveloped the new show.
Simmons will be in Cannes to talk to potential buyers with the Kiss star available to front international versions of the format.
