Cineflix execs launch new indie Curve Media

Rob_and_CamillaCamilla Lewis and Rob Carey (pictured), Cineflix’s former creative director and UK productions boss, have struck a management buy-out deal with Cineflix and started their own indie producer, Curve Media.

The new prodco has launched with two commissions, Going For A Drive with Richard Wilson for ITV1 in the UK and My Strange Pregnancy for TLC’s international channels. The former will be sold internationally by Cineflix Rights and the latter by Discovery’s sales arm.

All new Curve shows, however, will be sold by BBC Worldwide under the terms of a five-year distribution deal.

Two other former Cineflix staffers – Iain Taylor and Paul Day – will join Curve as director of development and director of production respectively.

The new prodco will focus on factual and fact-ent programming for channels in the UK and North America.

Curve has taken a slate of programming and development assets from Cineflix as part of the MBO of the latter’s UK production assets, including the right to produce new seasons of shows including Claimed and Shamed (BBC One), Salvage Hunters (Discovery Quest), Trauma Doctors: Every Second Counts (Channel 5), and Pet School (CBBC).

The pair added: “Cineflix Media remains committed to the UK, focussing our production activity through Buccaneer Media, our joint venture with Tony Wood, and our growing international distribution division Cineflix Rights.”
