PBS brings Robin Williams special to market

The sales arm of US public service channel PBS, is launching a Robin Williams commemorative special internationally.

Robin Williams Remembered – A Pioneers of Television Special went out on PBS this week (September 9) after the comedian and actor’s tragic death last month. It was part of the broadcaster’s Pioneers of Television strand

Broadcasters around the world cleared their schedules for programmes about – and featuring – Williams and the one-hour PBS special features the last interview with the star.

It also has never-before-seen footage of his comments on life and work, tributes from other stars including Williams’ Mork & Mindy co-star Pam Dawber.

“We were gladdened to hear that the producers of Pioneers of Television were putting together a remembrance of Robin Williams, a truly incredible actor and comedian,” says Tom Koch, vice president of PBS International. “We hope this special provides more insight to this wonderful man and his awe-inspiring work.”
