Blinkbox signs EST deal for Channel 4 shows

inbetweeners_1Download-to-own and streaming service Blinkbox has added a raft of titles from UK broadcaster Channel 4 to its line-up including hit comedy series The Inbetweeners and its feature film spin-off.

The Channel 4 content will be available to buy via Blinkbox after the two parties agreed an electronic sell-through deal.

Blinkbox said the deal covered hundreds of hours of content. Titles include Ricky Gervais comedy series Derek, drama series Utopia and feature doc Pantani: Accidental Death of a Cyclist.

New Channel 4 shows will feed through to Blinkbox under the terms of the deal between the broadcaster and the streaming service. The agreement marks the first time the pair have worked together directly in this way.

Blinkbox Movies managing director Adrian Letts said: “Channel 4 has a well-earned reputation for creating some of the best content in the world. It’s a further sign of our commitment to offer a truly brilliant entertainment experience, without the need for a subscription.”

Blinkbox is owned by UK retail giant Tesco.
