TVNZ plans DIY series

New Zealand broadcaster TVNZ has commissioned a Eyeworks DIY-themed format.

Our First Home is billed as an “entertaining new spin on the competitive DIY reality format”.

Each episode will see three Kiwi families – comprising parents and their first-time buyer children – buying, renovating and then selling properties.

“Our First Home is sure to strike a strong chord with our viewers as it tells the story that thousands of New Zealanders are living today,” said Andrew Shaw, TVNZ’s general manager of commissioning, production and acquisitions. “For many the Kiwi quarter acre dream is simply out of reach, without a lot of blood, sweat and probably tears too.”
