Sewing Bee heads to Denmark

Danish terrestrial broadcaster TV2 Fri has ordered its first BBC Worldwide-sold format.

The network has commissioned local prodco Metronome to create a version of the BBC’s Sewing Bee knitting competition series, which Love Productions originally created.

The show will launch on TV2 Fri this fall. “We are very excited about selecting Sewing Bee for TV2 Fri, a perfect match for a channel devoted to a wide array of nature and lifestyle programming,” said TV2’s head of acquisitions and formats Anette Rømer.

Sewing Bee will tap into the growing focus on back-to basics craftsmanship, and structuring it as a competition enhances how ambition and striving for perfection go hand in hand with sharing great how-to tips.”

Local versions of Sewing Bee are already lined up in France, where BBC Worldwide Productions France is making it for M6, Norway for pubcaster NRK and Sweden, where it was licensed to broadcaster TV4 to air on its channel Sjuan.
