News brief: Disney UK acquire Animal Championships

The Walt Disney Company in the UK has acquired wildlife series World Animal Championships from the Australian Children’s Television Foundation.

Produced by Blacklab Entertainment, the 52-part series has launched the Disney Channel.

The series is billed as a “fast-paced, action-packed show” in which “all animals great and small go head-to-head for wildlife supremacy”.

In related news, Disney Television Animation is developing a special inspired by Disney theme park attraction Haunted Mansion. it will run on both Disney Channel and Disney XD.
