Hell’s Kitchen opens in Asia

An Indonesian broadcaster has commissioned the first Asian version of Gordon Ramsay-created cooking format Hell’s Kitchen.

060808_0931_060713_hellskitchen_hmed.hmedium0SCTV will get a 25x60mins version that is hosted by Juna Rorimpandey, better known locally as Chef Juna. It will launch in the winter this year.

This follows a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment, which has also sold dance competition format Baby Ballroom to HTV7 in Vietnam. That series will be known as Vu Dieu Tuoi Xanh and premiere later this month.

Hell’s Kitchen sees a high-profile chef attempt to instill their passion into competing amateur chefs.

It has been remade in numerous territories worldwide after first launching on ITV in the UK. It has been a huge hit in the US, and launched in Germany, Italy and Poland among others.

The news comes soon after Ramsay, famed for his expletive-heavy rants on various cooking formats, decided to finish his Kitchen Nightmares Channel 4 series after 10 years.
