Conan O’Brien making UK debut with TruTV

Conan-PR-Image-3Turner’s soon-to-launch UK entertainment channel TruTV has acquired Conan, marking the first time the Conan O’Brien late-night talkshow has hit UK screens.

The hour-long show will run Monday-to-Thursday on TruTV in the UK in an 11pm slot. The channel will launch on the Freeview digital terrestrial free-to-air platform in the UK in August.

In the US Conan airs on Turner cable net TBS. O’Brien has also fronted network talkshows Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.

Anthony Lukom, vice president and managing director Turner Broadcasting UK says: “It’s a huge coup to secure Conan in the UK – in part because of Conan O’Brien being such a brilliant comedian, but also because we can bring interviews with top-class talent that just don’t do the UK talk shows.”

Speaking about his show launching in the UK, O’Brien said: “I’m very excited my show will appear in the UK because my sense of humour has been so inspired by the English – from Python and Black Adder to Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais, and comedy legend Gordon Ramsey.”
