Red Arrow bags ‘new Lilyhammer’ rights

SamuraiSecurity[2]Red Arrow International has snagged international rights to Samurai Security, a Norwegian comedy series from Rubicon, the producers of Lilyhammer.

Red Arrow also sells Netflix series Lilyhammer and will now take the new Rubicon series to market. The new show was penned by Lilyhammer writer Anne Bjørnstad and features several of the same cast.

Samurai Security went out on TV2 in Norway and performed strongly for the commercial broadcaster. It follows a quartet of dysfunctional mall cops based in Oslo who are led by an Afghanistan conflict veteran.

Rubicon TV is one of the largest production companies in Norway, and a part of Shine Group’s Shine Nordics division.

Irina Ignatiew, managing director, global scripted distribution at Red Arrow International says: “Our first cooperation with Rubicon – `Lilyhammer´ – was picked up in over 150+ countries and proved that our partnership was more than successful. I am thrilled to continue our relationship through their newest project `Samurai Security´, which is bound to leave no eye dry.”

Anne Kolbjørnsen, head of scripted at Rubicon TV said: “The Samurai-universe is warm-hearted, humorous, and completely catastrophic, as Kato Haugen struggles to crack the code of what makes a good mall cop.”
