TV3, RDF are Sitting on a Fortune

Ireland’s TV3 is coproducing its latest gameshow, Sitting on a Fortune, with Zodiak Media-owned UK prodco RDF Television.

The 10x60mins series is billed as a “high-pressure, physical game show” filmed at a Dublin studio in which couple take turns to sprint to a games area and take on tough puzzles.

While the contestants are away from their chairs, their rivals earn cash, and this is only ended through correct answers.

The series represents the first time RDF (Tipping Point) has produced a series for commercial broadcaster TV3, which is helmed by former Channel 5 controller Jeff Ford. RDF and TV3 co-developed the format, with RDF’s Peter Usher executive producing alongside TV3’s group head of formats Andrew Byrne.

“RDF’s decision to coproduce with TV3 in the state-of-the-art TV3 Sony HD Studio Dublin is a further endorsement of Ireland’s status as a test-bed for international formats,” said Byrne.

Zodiak Rights will have international distribution rights.
