Cloud OTT service Magine launches in Germany

MagineMagine, the cloud-based over-the-top TV service, has launched in Germany.

It has been in beta test mode in the country with SAT.1, ProSieben, Kabel Eins, Sixx, Sat.1 Gold and ProSieben Maxx channels all carried on the service.

RTL and RTL II will be available on the full commercial service as well as Bloomberg TV, Al Jazeera, Sport 1 and Eurosport 1.

There are also numerous German regional channels including Bayerisches FS Nord, MDR Sachsen, rbb Berlin and WDR Dortmund.

The core offering is available free of charge with paid-for bundles available as extras. At launch there is a kids TV package, priced at €4.99 a month, and carrying content from Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Nick JR, YFE and Duck TV.

Magine said there will other packages added in coming weeks.

The Scandi company has also struck a partnership deal with German newspaper Bild allowing readers to register and access Magine via the bild.de and computerbild.de sites.

Kamal Bherwani, chairman of Magine TV, said: “The full launch of Magine TV in Europe’s largest market represents an important milestone for our international expansion plan and the future of TV. Magine offers an omni-channel TV experience with a tremendous amount of content available for consumers. The day when a complete TV service with all major broadcasters can be offered over the Internet has arrived.”

Magine is now carried in Germany and Sweden. A beta version has launched in Spain.
