Nat Geo’s Cosmos the most popular show MIPDoc

NCOS7200National Geographic’s space series Cosmos – A Spacetime Odyssey was the most-screened programme at this year’s MIPDoc in Cannes.

The big-budget series proved popular with doc buyers in town for the factual market although by programming category, history was the most-screened genre.

Behind Cosmos was Polish series Warsaw 1935 3D, which shows the city in its pre-war form.

Looks Distribution’s Diaries of the Great War was ranked third ahead of Dogwoof’s Dinosaur 13, Gad Media’s Body Language and France Televisions Distribution’s Atome Sweet Home.

Cineflix-distributed 1000 Days for the Planet was the most-watched wildlife and nature show and seventh overall.

The roster of the top-ten most-screened projects was rounded out by Balanga’s A Tale of Two Thieves in eighth position and Munhwa’s Adventures of Ceratops and TCB Media Rights’ World’s Most Extreme.

By factual genre, current affairs was the second most popular category ahead of reality/ob-docs, science/knowledge and nature/wildlife.
