MTG, Sony sign content deal

Modern Times Group and Sony Pictures Television have signed a multi-year content deal.

The agreement hands MTG Sony feature film releases such as The Smurfs, Django Unchained and Men in Black 3.

They will be made available on MTG free- and pay-TV channels and the Viaplay online service in the Nordics.

“This deal is the first of its kind, as we have licensed Sony Pictures’ fantastic content for all platforms in Scandinavia,” said MTG’s senior VP, acquisitions and programming and chief content officer, MTGx.

Mejlhede landed the MTGx role recently.
