MIPTV 2014: Endemol reveals Origin story

Endemol World Distribution has sealed an exclusive representation deal with drama producer Origin Pictures.

The three-year deal will see Endemol and Origin jointly develop and finance drama series for the UK and international markets, with EWD taking global sales rights.

This comes after EWD launched Origin’s best known series, BBC One period drama Death Comes to Pemberley (pictured) at MIPCOM last year.

“We have really enjoyed working with Origin Pictures on Death Comes to Pemberley and are looking forward to cementing our future relationship with this three year commitment,” said Cathy Payne, CEO of EWD. “EWD cannot wait to bring Origin’s exciting new ideas and ambitions to the international marketplace”.

“We feel certain that Origin has found a fantastic creative and commercial home as we move forward with our ambitious plans,” added Origin’s David Thompson.

Origin is also behind shows such as BBC Two telemovie The Crimson Petal and the White, BBC miniseries Hidden and upcoming BBC One drama Jamaica Inn.
