MIPTV 2014: Lucy Smith takes the reins at MIP-branded events

MIPTV and MIPCOM organiser Reed MIDEM has elevated Lucy Smith to director of the MIPDoc, MIPFormats and MIPJunior events.

Smith has been upped from director of conferences. In that role she has built up the MIPTV and MIPCOM conference line-ups and attracted A-list industry figures and on-screen talent for keynotes and related sessions.

MIPJunior has been running since 1993, MIPDoc since 1998 and MIPFormats since 2010.

In her new role, Smith will continue to manage the conferences as well as developing the trio of events.

“[Lucy] has been instrumental in attracting world class speakers and making our MIPTV and MIPCOM conference programmes an integral part of the event experience,” said Laurine Garaude, director of Reed MIDEM’s Television Division.

“She has been a key player in the launch of well-received competitions and screenings and her strategic understanding of the documentary, youth and format sectors makes her the ideal choice to develop MIPDoc, MIPFormats and MIPJunior.”
