Sky Atlantic buys Italian-language series Gomorrah

Gomorrah low resSky Atlantic has acquired its first foreign-language drama series, Gomorrah.

The Italian series is a TV remake of the Roberto Saviano book and subsequent movie of the same name and follows the mafia in the Italian city of Naples.

It is produced by Cattleya, which also makes Romanzo Criminale, the mafia series currently being remade by US cable net Starz.

Beta Film distributes Gomorrah and has sub-licensed rights in the UK to Arrow Films, which struck the deal with Sky Atlantic.

In Germany Sky Deutschland has bought the series and in the Nordic and Latin American regions it has been pre-bought by HBO.

In the UK, Sky Atlantic will run a subtitled version of the twelve-part series.
