News brief: Arrow making Mayday doc for C4

UK broadcaster Channel 4 has ordered a one-off doc about a passenger who successfully took the controls and landed a plane.

UK indie producer Arrow Media is making the 1x60mins doc Mayday: The Passenger Who Landed a Plane. It will tell the story of pensioner John Wildley who had to land a light aircraft after the pilot collapsed at the controls.

The film has footage from the aircraft’s on board camera as well as the audio of the communications between Wildley and air traffic control.

Channel 4’s news and current affairs commissioning editor Tom Porter ordered the doc.
