BBC poaches comedy commissioning boss from ITV

Myfanwy_MooreThe BBC has recruited Myfanwy Moore as its UK comedy controller.

The UK pubcaster has poached Moore from its commercial rival ITV where she was commissioning editor, comedy.

In her new role at the BBC she will lead the broadcaster’s comedy department.

During her time at ITV Moore ordered series including Plebs, Vicious and Benidorm.

Prior to ITV she worked at the BBC as editor of new comedy, developing shows including Little Britain and prior to that she launched the Paramount Comedy channel in the UK.

At the BBC she will report to Mark Freeland, controller of fiction and entertainment at BBC Production. He said: “Myfanwy has a fantastic, well deserved reputation and a passion and eye for comedy talent. I cannot wait to welcome her back to the BBC and see how she takes comedy to new and funny places.”

Moore added: “I have loved my time at ITV, but as any comedy geek knows, running BBC In-House Comedy – the birthplace of so many well-loved and enduring shows that have shaped popular culture – is an opportunity that is hard to turn down.”
