ABC in Australia has become the first international buyer of comic book-inspired toon movie trilogy Stan Lee’s Mighty 7.
It will broadcast on children’s channel ABC3 later this year following a deal with distributor PGS Entertainment.
Mighty 7 comes drom Stan Lee Comics, a newly-formed joint venture between Genius Brands International, Lee’s POW! Entertainment and Archie Comics.
Genius recently merged with Andy Heyward’s A Squared Entertainment, which previously sold the property through its now-discontinued A Squared International division.
The toon features Spider-Man creator Lee himself in a role that sees him teach alien prisoners and their jailers how to work together and use their strengths to become superheroes.
“Australia is a great market for this property and ABC3 is the perfect fit,” said Guillaume Soutter, co-founder, PGS Entertainment. “Of course, Stan Lee has fans around the world, but viewers will be particularly excited to see this new trilogy of movies starring Stan himself.”
