Passion cuts pre-NATPE Latin deals

Ahead of the upcoming NATPE programming market in Miami, Passion Distribution has closed a raft of deals with broadcasters in Latin America.

Brazil’s leading broadcaster TV Globo has ordered more episodes of the local version of the Worst Driver format, meaning an extended run for the previously announced second season of the show. Globo makes the Brazilian version, Ruim de Roda (Bas at the Wheel), in-house and season two will now run to 14 episodes.

The show was originally produced for Channel 5 in the UK by Mentorn, which like Passion, is part of the Tinopolis group.

Also in Brazil, pay TV outfit Globosat has acquired the US version of the Dream School format, which was originally made for the Sundance Channel in the US, and feature doc The Good Son. It also picked up a package of The Weather Channel shows, which Passion distributes, including Deadliest Weather and Strangest Weather on Earth.

In Mexico Televisa has bought extended an output deal with Passion and the distributor has also sold a package of content to pan-regional channel operator Chello Latin America, which includes OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network series Too Fat for 15 and Garden E.R.
